Virus-Tested Geranium Certification Program
The Department of Agriculture offers a voluntary program to reduce the risk of the presence of plant diseases that pose a threat to the economic well being of the Commonwealth's geranium production industry. The program is derived from the authority granted the Department under section 6(b) of the Plant Pest Act (3 P.S. § 258.6(b)).
Representatives of the geranium production industry have requested that the Department of Agriculture establish a voluntary program to certify that particular crops enrolled in that program and produced in accordance with program requirements have undergone an inspection and testing regimen that reduces the risk that the crop will harbor systemic disease organisms that will compromise the quality of the geraniums produced.
