Pesticide Advisory Board

The Pennsylvania Pesticide Advisory Board advises the Secretary of Agriculture on any or all problems relating to the use and application of pesticides. This may include pest control problems, environmental or health problems related to pesticide use, and review of needed legislation, regulations, and agency programs. The Pennsylvania Pesticide Control Act of 1973 (act of March 1, 1974 P.L. 90, No. 24) as amended established the Pesticide Advisory Board. The Act defines membership, term appointments and purpose of the board. Meetings are called by the Secretary, chair or a majority of the Board. The board must meet no less than 4 times a year. There are 17 members on the board with a wide range of knowledge and perspectives in pesticides.

Voting members represent a member from each of the following areas:

    • Licensed pesticide applicator representative (licensed to operate ground equipment)
    • Licensed pesticide applicator representative (licensed to operate aerial equipment)
    • Licensed pesticide applicator representative (licensed for structural pest control)
    • Entomologist in public service
    • Environmental health specialist from the Pennsylvania Department of Health
    • Toxicologist in public service
    • Plant pathologist in public service
    • Agricultural chemical industry
    • Food processing industry
    • Producer of an agricultural crop or products on which pesticides are applied or which may be affected by application of pesticides
    • Producer of an agricultural crop or products on which pesticides are applied or which may be affected by application of pesticides
    • Environmental interests
    • PA Department of Agriculture
    • PA Fish and Boat Commission
    • PA Game Commission
    • PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
    • PA Department of Transportation
