BUREAU OF FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Long Earl was appointed Director of the Bureau of Food Distribution in May
2017. Prior to this appointment, she served for two years as Executive
Assistant to Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding.
to joining PDA in May 2015, Long Earl spent more than a decade working on
policy issues related to food safety and food security. This includes previous
public service with USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service and as a
Congressional Agriculture Fellow in the U.S. Senate. Upon leaving federal service,
she served for four years as a Senior Policy Advisor at Feeding America, where
she focused on appropriations and federal commodity issues, and for three years
as Executive Director of Feeding Pennsylvania.
Earl received Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Communication/Journalism
from Shippensburg University. She earned a Master of Science degree in
Management, with a concentration in marketing, from University of Maryland

County, she and her husband, Matthew, live in Chambersburg, Franklin County
with their three sons.
