In a state as agriculturally rich as Pennsylvania, no one should wonder where their next meal is coming from. If this isn't a worry for you, here are some ways you can keep it from being a worry of others:

  1. Scout Out Hunger
    • Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are eligible to earn a free Scout Out Hunger Patch through the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, free of charge.
    • The Scout Out Hunger project will help introduce the members of scouting programs to the important issue of hunger in the community. In addition, the program will help to educate participants about the many creative ways they can become involved and empower them to make a difference in central Pennsylvania.
  2. Volunteer or contribute to local food pantries.
  3. Write letters to your congress member about lifting the need for systematic changes affecting hunger in your community.
  4. Donate/support MEANS
    • A non-profit communications platform for emergency food providers and their donors. Emergency food providers can mean soup kitchens, homeless shelters and food pantries. MEANS, which stands for Meeting Excess And Needs for Sustainability, works with these emergency food providers by sending them free emails and texts when a grocery store, restaurant, caterer or other food donor has what they need nearby.
  5. Support Feeding PA's mission
  6. Volunteer at a school youth food program
